The Australian employer sponsored visa is a set of visa categories established by the Australian government to meet the shortage of talents in the local labour market, allowing Australian companies to sponsor various overseas professionals or skilled workers to work/settle in Australia.

  • This type of visa does not need EOI score.

Employer sponsored immigration is divided into three categories:

Temporary Skill Shortage visa (subclass 482)

Temporary Skill Shortage visa (subclass 482) allows applicants to work for an Australian company for 2-4 years. They can apply for an Australian green card by applying for Employer Nomination Scheme (subclass 186) or Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme (subclass 187).

Advantage of Temporary Skill Shortage visa (subclass 482):
– No age requirement and No clear degree requirement for academic qualifications. Only relevant academic qualifications are required.
– Low English requirements.
    – The short-term category requires a total score of 5 in IELTS, and no single item is lower. 4.5;
    – The mid-term category requires all single items are over 5 points in IELTS;
– Some occupations don’t have professional assessment requirements.

Employer Nomination Scheme (subclass 186)

Employer Nomination Scheme (subclass 186) is an immigrant visa for companies in Australia to hire overseas professionals and guarantee the applicant’s family to work and live in Australia.
Basic Requirements:
    – All single items are over 6 points in IELTS or other language scores equivalent to this level.
    – A positive career assessment, but does not have to pass the scoring system like skilled immigrants.
After obtaining this visa, you can settle in any city in Australia and work for any employer, not limited to the nominated occupation and employer when you apply for the visa.

Skilled Employer Sponsored Regional (provisional) visa (subclass 494)

Skilled Employer Sponsored Regional (provisional) visa (subclass 494) is a temporary visa with a validity period of 5 years. During the visa validity period, if you live and work in a remote area for 3 years or more, and the salary level is not lower than the average level of the same state and the same position, you can apply for 191 Visa to become an Australian permanent resident.

What you need to do if your sponsor terminate the guarantee?

You need to change to a new employer within 60 days of leaving. You can start working only after the new employer’s nomination is approved.

  • Please make sure your occupation is on the MLTSSL;
  • If you want to directly apply for Employer Nomination Scheme (subclass 186), you must are under 45 years old;
  • Have qualified language scores and more than 3 years of relevant work experience in the nominated occupation;
  • Meet the requirements of career assessment;
  • Be nominated by an Australian employer that meets the requirements of the Immigration Department.
